ABOUT ERISKAY LILT

A new modern luxury eco-friendly five star self-catering house on the beautiful Hebridean Isle of Eriskay, with accommodation for up to eight people.

Recently added is a sun bathing area, complete with sun loungers, sand play and a dedicated station for your disposable barbecue. Bicycles, wet suits, outdoor clothing and equipment can be safely stored in a secure outhouse adjacent to the main building. There’s also a fitness and games room, with exercise bike, dart board, tennis raquets and hula hoops for you to use. Children can also enjoy our outdoor swing and have fun with our outdoor basketball hoop and mini golf set.

Changeover day is Saturday. Check out by 10.00am. Check in at 5.00pm.

For the comfort of all guests, the property is non-smoking.

TARIFF
£1200 per week (01-Jan-23 to 31-Dec-23)
£1300 per week (01-Jan-24 to 31-Dec-24)

BOOKING DEPOSIT
A non-refundable booking deposit of £400 is required to reserve your stay.

FINAL BALANCE
Your agreed booking rate less any booking deposit already received by us must be paid in full no later than 6 weeks prior to your arrival date, otherwise your reservation may be cancelled and your booking deposit forfeited.

No refunds will be made for cancellation by you less than 6 weeks before the date of your arrival.

No refunds will be made for non-arrivals.

We strongly advise that you take out comprehensive travel insurance at the time of reservation to cover possible cancellation costs for your stay with us. If you choose not to, then you accept responsibility for any loss that you may incur due to your cancellation.

SECURITY DEPOSIT
We really do want you to fully enjoy your stay with us, so please treat Eriskay Lilt like your home. All we ask is that you take good care of it, which means that the next guests checking in can enjoy their stay in full comfort too!

An occasional broken glass or a scuff mark on the wall from your luggage is part of everday life and we would never dream of charging you for minor damage like this.

Very occasionally, however, we do experience more significant damage such as permanently stained towels and linen, broken lamps, furniture and appliances, or excessive mess on departure.

We therefore require a security deposit of £150 for each booking.

This is in addition to your booking rate.

This must be paid at the same time as your final balance payment.

We will return the security deposit to you within 48 hours following your departure, less any deductions for:

  • repairs and/or replacement of the property, contents, furnishings, fixtures and fittings that are necessary after your stay and which are not as the result of fair wear and tear;
  • extra cleaning, if you leave the property in an unreasonable condition.

You must notify us immediately of any damage to the property, contents, furnishings, fixtures or fittings which occurs during your stay, even if you regard the damage as fair wear and tear or if you do not believe the damage is your fault. If you do not notify us during your stay then we alone will determine if the damage is fair wear and tear, and our decision shall be final.

You will be liable for the full cost of damage which is not fair wear and tear. This may exceed the amount of security deposit already paid or due. Where replacement is required, this will be on a like for like basis, with original or equivalent item(s) of the same quality and standard.

On your departure, you must leave the property in the same clean and tidy state that you found it at the start of your stay.

GETTING TO ERISKAY

Sail with CalMac from Oban to South Uist then cycle or drive to Eriskay. Alternatively, sail from Harris or Skye to North Uist and then travel south by road through the Uists, finally crossing the causeway to Eriskay. Or sail from Oban or Tiree to Barra and then make the short ferry crossing from Ardmhor direct to Eriskay.

Fly from Glasgow and Stornoway to Benbecula or Barra with Flybe. On a clear day the aerial scenery is spectacular. Enthusiasts will love landing on the Triagh Mhor, at the north end of Barra: the only runway in the world washed twice a day by the tide.

THINGS TO SEE AND DO

  • Explore the outstanding beaches, coves and bays.
  • Admire the wildlife, otters and Eriskay Ponies. It’s also a bird-watchers paradise…golden eagles, corncrakes, short-eared owls and more.
  • Hiking, walking, cycling, windsurfing, sailing and fishing.
  • Kayaks available for hire.
  • Sea-angling with Barra Fishing Charters (Tel: 01871 890384)
  • Climb the gentle hills, Ben Scrien (609 ft) and Ben Stack (403 ft), and take in the unsurpassed views.
  • Visit the local hostelry, Am Politician, named after the famous ship immortalised in Compton MacKenzie’s “Whisky Galore.”
  • Play a round of golf at Askernish Golf Courrse, South Uist
  • Visit MacGillivrays Hebridean Gift Shop, Benbecula.

NEIGHBOURING ISLANDS

South Uist boasts a large nature reserve and is a haven for rare wildlife. It is also home to the oldest golf course in the Outer Hebrides. Also consider visiting the Kildonan Museum housing the sixteenth century Clanranald Stone and the ruins of the house where Flora MacDonald was born.

Barra is a true gem in the Western Isles. Kisimul Castle takes centre stage in the bay to the south of the island, overlooked by the dominant Ben Heaval. The west side sports stunning beaches, with rocky coves and inlets featuring on the east side. Barra Fishing Charters (Tel: 01871 890384) provides a unique opportunity to experience sea-angling or arrange a custom wildlife-spotting trip.

KAYAK HIRE

Two kayaks are available for hire.

  • Very stable, and complete with paddles and buoyancy aids.
  • All you need is your own personal wetsuit and you’re ready to go.
  • £100 per week for the two kayaks.
